Fudgy Chocolate Brownies

12 ounces 60-percent chocolate
2 sticks unsalted butter
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup all-purpose flour


  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Melt butter and chocolate in a bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Add all remaining ingredients and stir until sugar dissolves. Scrape into a 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Bake about 40 minutes, until toothpick inserted in the center comes out slightly wet. Do not overbake.
