Bombe a la Chocolate Mandarin Felony

Ingredients

2 pints dark chocolate chunk ice cream
1 pint vanilla fudge swirl ice cream
1/2 cup orange marmalade
1/2 pint orange sorbet (or another chocolate ice cream, if preferred
1 cup crushed orange cookie thins
1/2 pint heavy cream
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons grated dark chocolate
1 tablespoon grated orange peel

Instructions

  1. Line a 1-quart metal mixing bowl with plastic wrap.
  2. Press the softened dark chocolate chunk ice cream against the sides of the bowl.
  3. Freeze until solid.
  4. Press the softened vanilla fudge swirl ice cream (mixed well with the marmalade) against the chocolate layer.
  5. Freeze until solid.
  6. Fill in the cavity with the orange sorbet (or another chocolate ice cream, if preferred)
  7. Smooth the top and press on the crumbled orange thins.
  8. Freeze until solid.
  9. Whip the cream to stiff peaks.
  10. Add the sugar and whip again.
  11. Frost the unmolded bombe with the whipped cream.
  12. Sprinkle with the grated orange peel and grated chocolate.
  13. Freeze until solid.
  14. Move bombe to refrigerator half an hour before serving.
  15. Cut into wedges.
  16. Serves 8.
