Berry Blue Tea Cake

  • Yield 9 servings

A simple and delicious tea cake.


2 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup sugar
1 -- egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
2 cups blueberries
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter or margarine


  1. Sift together dry ingredients.  Cream butter; gradually beat in sugar.  Add egg and milk; beat until smooth.  Add dry ingredients; fold in blueberries.  Pour into greased and floured 9-inch square pan.
  2. For topping, mix sugar, flour, and cinnamon.  Cut in butter until crumbly.  Sprinkle topping over dough.  Bake at 375F for 40 to 45 minutes.
