Balsamic Strawberries with Ice Cream

  • Yield 4 servings

These tart berries, with a bit of fresh-ground black pepper, are incredible over vanilla-bean ice cream.


1 pint fresh strawberries, rinsed, hulled and halved
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon good-quality balsamic vinegar
Fresh-ground black pepper, to taste
4 (1/2-cup) scoops vanilla-bean ice cream


  1. Combine the berries, sugar, vinegar and pepper in a nonreactive bowl and chill 30 minutes. Serve over ice cream.
