Bacon Appetizers
- Yield 12 servings
Ingredients
- 12 pieces water chestnuts
- 12 slices bacon
- -- Teriyaki Sauce (below)
- -- dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, pressed
Instructions
Cut chestnuts into halves. Pour Teriyaki sauce on chestnuts in bowl. Refrigerate at LEAST 2 hours, preferably overnight. Drain. Cut bacon slices in half. Wrap each water chestnut with a piece of bacon. Secure with a toothpick. Roll in brown sugar. Broil in 550 F oven 3 to 4 inches from heat until bacon is crisp, about 10 minutes. Serve hot. Appetizers may also be cooked on an hibachi, turning frequently, about 15 minutes.
Note: Soak toothpicks in water before placing in over to help prevent charring.
Teriyaki Sauce
Mix all ingredients. Goes with bacon appetizers, or as a marinade for London Broil steak.
