Applesauce Cinnamon Toast

- 1 cup applesauce, heated if desired
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- 3 slices high-quality white bread
- 2 tablespoons California walnut butter spread (see recipe)
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons sugar
Preheat the broiler.
Stir the applesauce and nutmeg together; set aside. Spread each slice of bread with 2 teaspoons on each slice of toast. Place under the broiler or in a toaster over for about 1 minute, or until the sugar has melted – watch it closely.
Let cool a moment, then cut each slice in half. Place 3 halves on each plate and spoon ½ cup of applesauce on the side, and serve.
Serve with a 6 oz. glass of orange juice. Serves 2; each serving contains ½ oz. of walnuts.
