Apple Pie with Cranberries and Raisins

3/4 cup California Raisins
1 1/2 cups water
9 medium Granny Smith apples
1 9-inch piecrust
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamen
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup whole cranberries


  1. Preheat oven to 450F.
  2. In a small saucepan, bring raisins and water to a boil. Turn off heat and let set for 10 minutes.
  3. Peel, core and slice apples. Sauté in Caro Syrup until for tender, using two pans to achieve even result. Add other ingredients (except raisins and cranberries) and toss to coat evenly. Place apple filling in piecrust. Drain raisins. Sprinkle raisins and cranberries on top of apples. Place top crust on pie and sprinkle with sugar.
  4. Bake 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 and continue baking 45 minutes.
