All Day Cookies
- Yield 6 dozens
Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup Crisco shortening
- 1/2 cup sour milk, buttermilk, or sour cream
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 5 cups flour
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients together. Form dough into four ropes and refrigerate overnight. Slice rope into 1/2-inch cookies. Sprinkle each cookie with 1 teaspoon of red, white and green sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes.
