Tricks and Treats
Ghastly treat ideas that will send shivers down your kids' spines but sweetness in their bellies.
When ghosts and goblins come out for a Halloween scare they are met by a bounty of children scattered here and there. With greedy little hands and sacks filled with sweets, these costumed kiddies squeal, “Trick or Treat!” A treat they may get, but a trick? That must wait…for the ghost and goblins have yet to make their Halloween plate.
This Halloween help out these pesky ghosts and goblins by surprising your kids with these three sweet treats disguised as creepy tricks:
- Don’t You Have The Prettiest Peppers! Pick up a batch of powder sugar doughnut holes and use them to make some spooky “eyeballs.” Use brown, blue or green icing to make an iris in the center, stick a chocolate chip in the center of each for a pupil and then use red icing for veins.
- Ding Dong the Witch is Dead! Well, at least her fingers have been, er, dealt with. Start with a simple sugar cookie recipe, but instead of rolling out the dough, mold pieces into finger-like shapes. After they are baked, attach an almond for the nail with red icing then ice the other end for the appearance of a ghastly chop!
- Creepy Crawlers: Assemble Halloween Oreos, mini M&Ms and a roll of stringy black or red licorice into eerie spiders. Make legs by gently lifting the Oreo top off, placing eight short pieces of licorice in the cookie and then pressing down. As a finishing touch, attach two eyes – mini M&Ms – with icing to the top.
