A Nashville supper club gathers monthly for good food and good company.

On a balmy spring evening, 50 people gather at a small urban farm, bearing bowls and platters. A lively array of salads, casseroles, covered dishes and desserts converges on top of the harvest table, a long buffet under a great maple tree. With wine or cilantro lemonade in hand, folks stroll through rows of climbing tomato vines, admire the feathery patches of asparagus and walk the labyrinth lined with flowers and herbs. In time, they return to the table, fill their plates and take a seat in nature’s dining room. Welcome to the Third-Thursday Potluck, held at the Wedgewood Urban Gardens in Nashville, Tenn. 

When my neighbor Gigi Gaskins and I hosted the first gathering in the spring of 2009, we hoped to foster community and share good food. We had no idea it would blossom into such a convivial ongoing event. In the spirit of sharing, here are some favorites from the spring feast that are perfect for a Memorial Day cookout.
