The Social Soup Experiment
A New York community comes together to connect over endless bowls of savory soup.
What happens when 200 people gather at the High Line public park in New York City to share a communal meal? Conversation, good food, and a chance to connect with neighbors in a city of 8 million. In October 2011, the High Line dinner on the elevated rail line offered up Bean and Farro Soup by Chef Mona Talbott for a mere $5 to neighbors and visitors, friends and newcomers. The event was sponsored by Friends of the High Line, Cleaver & Co., Edible Manhattan and Slow Food, among others. Host your own soup supper with any of these simple soups.
