If you can't take the heat, back away from the grill and get back in the kitchen. Then plug in your energy-saving, low heat-emitting crock pot and cook almost everything you need for a holiday or weekend cook-out without ever breaking a sweat. Tender pulled pork sandwiches are easy with our Slow Cooker Pulled Pork recipe. Don't bake those beans—crock pot 'em. Mix up your favorite recipe—like our Boston Baked Beans—and cook on LOW for 8-12 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours. For an easy potato side dish, combine 2 pounds of unpeeled, scrubbed fingerling or quartered red potatoes, 3 cloves minced garlic, a half stick of melted butter, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, the juice of three lemons, a few spikes of chopped fresh rosemary or thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook on LOW for 6-8 hous or HIGH for 3-4 hours. To make a yummy warm potato salad, whisk together a cup or so of chicken broth, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, a tablespoon of sugar, 2 tablespoons canola oil, and salt and pepper. Combine with 2 pounds of peeled Yukon Gold potatoes in a crock pot. Cook on LOW for 3-4 hours, or until potatoes are tender. When cooked, stir in 1/4 cup sour cream, finely chopped Vidalia onion and celery and season with salt and pepper. Just before serving, sprinkle with crumbled, crispy bacon. Ready for dessert?
