Recipes, videos, festivals and music celebrating the preferred beverage of Cinco de Mayo—margaritas.
Cinco de Mayo, though hardly a holiday in Mexico outside of the small city of Puebla, gets Americans thoroughly jazzed up. And with the thirst-quenching and always-a-good-time margarita being the signature sip, it’s no surprise why. To cull our own ravenous marg cravings and prove that this drink is in a category of its own, we combed the web and our Relish database to come up with a list of all the reasons why margaritas are the best—all of the time.
You Can Do Them Up in Every Which Way…
Last summer we got a little overzealous with our margarita adoration and got creative with grilled margaritas and strawberry margarita popsicles. Both are boozy and best served from your kitchen or patio on a warm day—preferably when it’s sunny enough to need sunscreen.
Because Bloggers Get Crazy Creative with Margarita Flavors…
Okay, so the above variation from Half Baked Harvest isn’t served in a glass, but Tieghan’s BBQ Margarita Chicken Tostadas with Sweet Jalapeno Margarita Salsa IS a mighty beautiful ode to margaritas’ finer points (tequila).
Here are some more blogger margarita recipes we are particularly taken with at the moment, some edible and others sippable. If you’re watching your waistline, our friends at Spry Living have a pretty fantastic roundup of Skinny Margaritas.
Country Music Wouldn’t Be the Same Without a Little Tequila…
Beyond old dirt roads, pickup trucks and beautiful women, it’s hard not to notice another quite obvious trend in the country genre…you got it, margaritas. And a boatload of tequila. Here is just a mere sampling of margarita tunes—perfect for when you’re blending and mixing margaritas on the 5th.
Senorita Margarita Tim McGraw (So this tune is admittedly about a woman named Margarita, but we prefer to visualize the cocktail)
Jose Cuervo by Shelly West (ladies like tequila too)
Neither Would Movies…
From Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman dancing with midnight margaritas in Practical Magic to Pee Wee Herman’s celebratory dance to Tequlia in Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, it’s quite evident that margaritas and their chief additive have aided some classic movie scenes.
Even Cool Mom from Mean Girls had margs at the ready…
People Will Come Out in Droves For Them…
