Steven Raichlen, America’s “master griller” and bestselling author, is challenging his fans to step up to the next level. He’s challenging fellow grillers to enter the Ultimate Grilling Recipe Contest—to show him something he hasn’t seen. And to get things started, he’s thrown down the gauntlet with an outrageous three-course menu: mussels grilled on a bed of flaming pine needles, T-bone steaks cooked directly on the embers, and for dessert, a spectacular spit-roasted whole pineapple.

The contest runs until July 10, and the grand prize is an all-expense-paid trip for two to Steven Raichlen’s Barbecue University at the Broadmoor resort in Colorado Springs, Colo. Full details and rules are posted at http://www.barbacuebible.com.

In the meantime, try Raichlen’s Only Marinade You’ll Ever Need and his Ultimate Grilling Menu below.
