Robin and Jon McConaughy are on a mission: to get the best food they can grow straight to those who want it. Along the way, they want to teach their sons, ages 9 and 12, where their food comes from.
When they started Double Brook Farm in Hopewell, N.J., in 2004, Robin says, “We knew right away it all had to be very local and as sustainable as we could make it.” For them, it’s just as im- portant to treat animals humanely and to make the farm part of the commu- nity—“local jobs, local people, local food,” says Robin. Well done, we say.
