Like most kids, my kids love chocolate chip cookies, Problem is, I like to be creative in the kitchen, so I’ve found myself tossing all sorts of different ingredients in the cookie dough. Sometimes it’s in attempts to use up some stale candy, sometimes just to be interesting.
One thing we always do is add a sprinkling of coarse salt to the cookies before they bake. It provides that yummy sweet, salty contrast that our taste buds love. The variations are just simple substitutions (in most cases). Try your own—just about anything works. And you can always leave a few chocolate chips in for a disguise . . . the kids may never know.
