Relish Restaurant

The stainless steel diner car that houses Relish Restaurant was fabricated by Mountain View Diners in Singac, New Jersey in 1952. It was then shipped to Queens, where it operated until 1967. A Ukranian restaurant family from Williamsburg purchased it, sent it back to Singac for alterations, then installed it into a new foundation at its current location in 1968.

The family operated “The Wythe Diner” until 1988. The diner then sat unused until it was purchased by the current owner, a local writer/designer who owned a small restaurant in Greenwich Village, who fell in love with the diner at first sight in 1995. It took three years of sincere courting and two years of restoration and renovation until the opening of Relish in February, 2000. Two years later the garden and patio were designed and built in the space that originally operated as a parking lot for the diner.
